Stargazing

Philippines starfish. Dinky, cute and chubby. It wants to be your friend.

Hong Kong starfish. Nine-point ocean-floor-roving monstrosity, well over a foot in diameter. It's coming to get you.

- another HK B-movie-worthy underwater life form -

  1. Great pics, Emilie. Re the Hong Kong starfish: I think I'd freak if I saw that when it and I were both underwater... ;O

    1. Luckily they stay on the bottom.

  2. The HK starfish looks like a spider with one too many legs.

    1. Yes, I find them so creepy. And you know that one has been there recently because they leave big star-shaped traces on the sand. They really are huge. I am sure they are mutants.

  3. Where in HK were you diving when you saw the starfish? How about the octopus (more recently)?

    1. The starfish I
believe was at Pak Pai and the octo at Pak Lap Tsai... but these can be seen all over HK. Though you are more likely to see an octopus on a night dive.
