貓頭鷹

Yesterday, I learned from Sasha the wonderful word for 'owl' in Cantonese: 貓頭鷹: mau tau ying; literally, cat-head eagle.
I think this is an eminently sensible appellation!

Another cat-headed creature.

Things that cats kind of look like - from the awesome Pusheen.

  1. I was once given a miniature owl pin (just like the one in your second photo) for Christmas. I named him Ollie.

    1. The second one is indeed a pin, and it was also a Christmas present - from my sister. I think it comes from a shop in Oxford. Maybe I should call him Oxford.

  2. My friend and your sister have good taste. :)

Shame blogspot doesn't let you respond by posting pics, the owl is sitting on my desk right now and I really have an urge to take a picture of it and send it through!
