Ghost homes

One of the most striking and melancholic aspects of hiking in rural Hong Kong are the homes of families that have moved away to seek a more prosperous life in the city or abroad. Some dwellings are now just ghostly shells, but others still contain the junk of daily life that only a generation ago was still in use.

  1. Aha! I have photographed the YTT houses on several occasions - they are fascinating. For HK$35 round trip its a good value excursion from Sai Kung.

  2. Yes but a short one - 45 min walk round the island max! Still it's a charming spot.
